NRA endorses Bradley (Updated)

Former U.S. Rep. and 1st Congressional District candidate Jeb Bradley (R-Wolfeboro) picked up the endorsement of the National Rifle Association today.

“You have demonstrated your support in office for our Second Amendment Rights and hunting heritage," wrote NRA Director of Federal Affairs Charles Cunningham in a letter. "We appreciate your pro-gun actions in Congress during your tenure."

DENVER-Manchester Democratic Chairman Chris Pappas thinks Queen City Democrats are poised to gain seats in the house and senate.

Pappas said he is confident that state Sen. Betsi DeVries (D-Manchester) will win re-election and Bob Backus (D-Manchester) will defeat state Sen. Ted Gatsas (D-Manchester).

Patton: Late primary affects 1 CD

DENVER-- The chairwoman of the Rockingham County Democrats thinks the biggest problem facing Granite State politics is the early fall primary, which will be taking place on Sept. 9th.

"My big problem with New Hampshire politics is that we have a late primary," Lenore Patton told PolitickerNH.com. "It makes it tough to know who your opponent will be."

Shea-Porter Announces Critical Drug Prevention Grant

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter today announced that Rochester, NH will receive a federal grant of $124,816.46 from the Drug-Free Communities program for the Rochester Community Coalition for Alcohol and Drug Prevention (RCCADP).  The Coalition is one of 199 new grant recipients across the country and works to prevent youth drug and alcohol abuse.

Shea-Porter Continues to Stand Up for Storm Victims, Urges President to Provide Individual Relief Assistance

Congresswoman Requests Disaster Relief for Belknap, Coos, and Grafton Counties

New Hampshire—Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter sent a letter to President Bush today urging him to provide individual assistance to the victims of the recent weather disaster and asking him to also include Belknap, Coos, and Grafton Counties in the Disaster Declaration.  Earlier this week, President Bush amended the FEMA Disaster Declaration for New Hampshire and included Strafford and Merrimack Counties.  Although FEMA provides both public and individual assistance, the Declaration currently provides no individual assistance.

    Shea-Porter Meets with New Hampshire Coalition on Aging

    Dover, NH – Yesterday, Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter met with representatives from the New Hampshire Coalition on Aging.  Attending were agency directors from around the district, representing Manchester, Belknap County, Strafford County, Rockingham County, Ossipee, and North Conway.  They discussed their concerns about the high cost of essentials like food and oil and how it will affect senior citizens this winter.

    Bradley, Stephen says they can beat Shea-Porter

    MANCHESTER-Former U.S. Rep. Jeb Bradley (R-Wolfeboro) and former Health and Human Services Commissioner John Stephen (R-Manchester) each used their closing statements to argue why they are the better candidate to face incumbent U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter (D-Rochester).

    Bradley said he is ready to face Shea-Porter, while Stephen said it was time for someone else to face the freshman congresswoman.
