HORN TO CLEGG: BROKEN CONGRESS RESULT OF PROFESSIONAL POLITICIANS, NOT EDUCATION
229 House Members Are Former State Legislators
NASHUA – Jennifer Horn, Republican candidate for Congress, demonstrated why she is the best choice for voters on September 9th at the WMUR/Union Leader debate.
Jennifer Horn: “In his commercials, Bob Clegg says ‘114 members of Congress have master's degrees, 23 have Ph.D.s and 240 are lawyers. If they’re so smart, how come they can't balance the budget?’ The answer is obvious - and it has nothing to do with education - it has to do with the type of person we send to congress. 229 members of Congress are former state legislators. That means over 50% of those serving in Congress are professional politicians. The real reason we can’t solve these problems is that we keep sending deal-making, professional politicians like Bob Clegg who offers more of the same.”
There is a clear choice in this race. Grant Bosse is a Washington Insider who wants to continue business as usual in Washington. Bob Clegg is a professional politician who offers more of the same. With high gas prices, the economy in disarray and people losing their jobs and their homes, voters simply can’t afford two more years of the same failed policies from same type of people.
To beat Paul Hodes, the Republican nominee needs to be different. We need a new voice, a new approach, and a new way of doing things - someone who has dealt directly with the problems caused by Washington and will bring a common sense approach to solving these problems.
Horn Continued: “Bill and I have five children- that means five college funds, five wardrobes, five mouths to feed. I know what it is to try to balance the mortgage, grocery bills and health insurance and wonder how you will get to put away some money for retirement. When we talk about health insurance, the economy, energy costs, I understand the real impact these issues have on families every day. We need representatives in Congress who have lived the same lives we all have, who have faced these challenges and understand how government spending, high taxation and a gridlocked Congress hurts each of us.”
The New Hampshire Union Leader endorsed Jennifer Horn stating: “She stands the best chance of beating Paul Hodes this November, and if elected, she would vote the way a New Hampshire representative ought to -- for smaller, more responsible government, a strong national defense and low taxes.”
