Editors note: This is a daily summary of news about the U.S. Senate race between U.S. Sen. John Sununu (R-Waterville Valley) and former Gov. Jeanne Shaheen (D-Madbury).
While all eyes were focused on Unity, the national parties each mentioned the Senate race in a press release. Also, the Shaheen campaign announced it has raised $54,152.50 in the past 24 hours.
"We need your help to defend ourselves and get back to the business of talking to voters about the change Jeanne will bring to Washington, DC. John Sununu has Big Oil and these swift-boat style groups. We have you," Shaheen's campaign manager Bill Hyers wrote in an e-mail to supporters.
The DSCC released a statement that said "New Hampshire Republican Senator John Sununu last night cast the deciding vote against legislation to prevent steep cuts in Medicare reimbursement rates to physicians slated to take effect next week."
Not to be outdone the NRSC released a webvideo titled "She Raises Taxes." The video can be watched below.
Sununu's Senate office announced that Sununu is co-sponsor of the "Gasoline Price Reduction Act of 2008" and Sununu also wrote to President Bush asking him to release money for low-income heating assistance.
