Stephen rallies supporters

Carol Shea-Porter (D-Rochester).

"My father used to say a politician thinks of the next election and a statesman thinks about the next generation," Stephen said at Jillian's restaurant. "In your heart of hearts in this election you know who the politician is and who the statesman is. Let's win this election for the next generation."

Horn: 'We can do better'

SALEM--Jennifer Horn (R-Nashua) spent the Sunday before the primary telling supporters that voters "can do better" than current U.S. Rep. Paul Hodes (D-Concord).

Horn is competing in a Republican primary in the 2nd Congressional District against Jim Steiner (R-Concord), Grant Bosse (R-Hillsboro) and state Sen. Bob Clegg (R-Hudson).

Telegraph endorses Horn

The Nashua Telegraph has endorsed its former columnist in the 2 Congressional District Republican primary.

The Telegraph cited national trends in endorsing Jennifer Horn, a former op/ed contributor for the paper.

"In any other election year, a congressional candidate whose primary credentials consist of raising a family, writing a newspaper column and hosting a radio talk show would be the dark horse. But not this year," the newspaper's editorial board wrote.

Huckabee does ad for Clegg

Bob Clegg (R-Hudson) has turned to an old friend to help his campaign.

Clegg has launched a radio ad that features former Gov. Mike Huckabee (R-Ark.) praising Clegg's stances on various conservative issues. Clegg supported Huckabee during the New Hampshire primary.

Biden to visit N.H.

U.S. Sen. Joe Biden will visit New Hampshire on September 10, U.S. Sen. Barack Obama's campaign has announced.

The visit will be Biden's first visit to the Granite State since the primary and his first as the Democratic vice-presidential nominee. Details of the visit will be announced at a later date.

SD-3 candidates prepare for final push

This weekend while votes are enjoying a restful weekend, candidates competing in the Republican primary in state Senate District three will be busy out on the campaign trail.

Sam Cataldo (R-Farmington) will be marching in the Epping home day parade and will have a booth at the Farmington hay day, while David Babson (R-Ossipee) said he will also be attending several events. William Denley (R-Wakefield) will be at the Conway parade and will also be attending a house party in Conway.
